Animal Scamming: The Difference Between Animal Welfare and "Animal Rights"

Once Ani-scammers gain a foothold in government, then the dollars really roll in. Make no mistake: animal scamming is a big-money business. Click here to find out where your money is really going when you donate to an "animal rights" organization. It isn't going to help the animals.

The actual welfare of the animals is of no importance next to the millions that can be made in this industry of deception. Animal welfare and "animal rights" are two completely different things.

Animal welfare groups seek to ensure the humane treatment of animals. Animal rights groups seek equal rights for animals with humans to prevent people from using or owning animals in any way. Animal rights groups want to close down our state's zoos and sanctuaries and stop us from helping and rescuing wild animals.

"The "rights" they want to give animals in this state is the right to suffer and die. PETA kills animals."

"It's a bit of a bizarre situation, as we're the folks who actually help and rescue wild animals and advocate for their welfare, and we find ourselves on the opposite side of a very nasty war with these "animal rights" people. I'd like to see any of them pick up an injured rattlesnake and give it antibiotics and rehabilitation care before releasing it back into the wild, which is what we do. Or provide veterinary care and housing for unwanted, abandoned or abused big cats for the rest of their lives, which is what CCI does. We do what the big zoos can't or won't for lack of time and space. We're the ones out there really helping and rescuing animals.

"We are the independent zoo and wildlife professionals of the state of North Carolina, and we are the evil that these so-called animal rights people are fighting against. We do not abuse animals. We help and rescue them, and we educate your community's children to respect animals and the environment they live in.

"These extremists want to make it illegal for us to do our jobs in this state, which in practice means suffering and death for the animals that we care about. The "rights" they want to give animals in this state is the right to suffer and die. PETA kills animals."

From the American Veterinary Medical Association:

Animal welfare is a human responsibility that encompasses all aspects of animal well being, including proper housing, management, nutrition, disease prevention and treatment, responsible care, humane handling, and, when necessary, humane euthanasia.

Animal rights is a philosophical view and personal value characterized by statements by various animal rights groups. Animal welfare and animal rights are not synonymous terms. The AVMA wholeheartedly endorses and adopts promotion of animal welfare as official policy; however, the AVMA cannot endorse the philosophical views and personal values of animal rights advocates when they are incompatible with the responsible use of animals for human purposes, such as companionship, food, fiber, and research conducted for the benefit of both humans and animals.

From AnimalScam.com:

Animal welfare proponents seek to improve the treatment and well-being of animals.

Animal rights proponents believe that violence, misinformation and publicity stunts are valid uses of funding donated to their tax-exempt organizations for the purpose of helping animals.

Arson, vandalism and assault are common tactics used by underground animal rights groups to further the animal rights cause. Groups such as the Animal Liberation Front, which have been classified as terrorist by the FBI, routinely use criminal activities to further their cause.
